GARBAGE, RECYCLING, and YARD DEBRIS PICKUP SCHEDULE (EFFECTIVE ON RECEIPT OF ROLL CARTS)
Arcadia Lakes currently contracts with GFL for the collection of both household garbage and yard debris. (Call GFL for roll carts or missed collections at 803-935-0249 and call Elizabeth Krajewski, Town Clerk 803-782-2272 so she can track requests.) Please observe these rules which are established by ordinance.
- Household garbage and yard debris will be collected once weekly on Tuesday (Curbside, with garbage in roll cart and yard debris in roll cart or bagged)
- Recycling will be collected twice monthly on first and third Wednesdays
- Garbage, recycling, and yard debris must be curbside for pickup (If the household has no one able to roll containers to curbside, please provide a doctor’s note or copy of a DMV handicap parking placard)
Limit: Extra bagged yard debris may be placed beside the yard debris roll cart and collected if the load for that day permits.
No limbs over 4 feet long or 4 inches in diameter, no item over 40 pounds, no debris from tree cutters, no construction materials, no bricks, wood, dirt, cement, or rocks.
Paint must be completely dried with lids off. Mixing sand or a Quick Crete-type product helps dry and solidify.
Recycling Acceptable: Cardboard boxes, flattened; Paperboard boxes, flattened; Aluminum cans; Steel cans; Empty aerosol cans; All plastic jugs, jars, and bottles. Magazines; Newspapers and inserts; Glass bottles, jugs and jars (clear, green and brown only) Junk mail and office paper.
NOT Acceptable for Recycling: Phone books, plastic bags, Styrofoam, yogurt containers, blue glass, glass or plastic in any other shape or form from the above.
